Fourth Inter-Regional Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO

[vc_row content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_images_carousel img_size=”570×380″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The Fourth Inter-Regional Meeting of National Commissions held last 27 October 2017 in Paris convened over 200 participants representing the 137 Member States/Associate Members and 21 Field Offices of UNESCO. PH NatCom was represented by Secretary General Lila Ramos Shahani, Ms. Michelle Dulay and Ms. Josefina Escueta.

During its sessions, UNESCO recognized the roles and efforts of National Commissions in ensuring the effective implementation on the ground of SDGs and other UNESCO programmes and projects. It also touched on the regulatory frameworks regarding UNESCO-affiliated associations, centres and clubs. Most importantly, the meeting highlighted the need to strengthen National Commissions in coordinating UNESCO programmes and expanding their cooperation with UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, as well as with other National Commissions.

Outgoing UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova delivered the closing remarks, where she extended her appreciation to all the UNESCO National Commissions present.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
